Size Guide
We developed our sizes by testing the costumes on real children, lots and lots of real children. Our size chart is typical of what you would find in major, reputable retailers. The sizing is considered generous and we don’t expect you to have to “size up”.
We have included information on individual costumes’ dimensions on their own pages so that you can check them against your child’s regular clothing. This is the simplest way to check sizing. The costumes are typically worn over clothing and so the sizing reflects that. We would suggest the following as a general guide for sizing.
How to measure your child
Measurements should be done with the child in their underwear and stocking feet to get the most accurate results.
Height:
Your child should stand as straight as possible against a flat surface like a wall that you are happy to put a light pencil/chalk mark on. Your child should wear socks but no shoes. Place a book or other stiff object on his/her head parallel to the floor and mark the spot where the book meets the wall. Measure from the floor to the mark.
Chest:
Your child should stand with his/her arms out to the sides in a relaxed and not stiff way. With your child breathing normally measure at the fullest part of the chest. The tape measure should be snug but not too tight.
Sleeve Length:
Your child should stand with their arms down by their sides in a relaxed way. Measure from the apex of the shoulder to the wrist crease. Make sure the tape is straight along the arm.
Waist:
Your child should stand with his/her arms out to the sides. Measure at the natural waist at the smallest part of the waist.
The tape measure should be snug but not too tight.
Hips:
Your child should stand comfortably and measure over underwear at the fullest part of the hips. As with the other measurements, the tape measure should be snug but not tight.
Inseam:
The easiest way to measure your child’s inseam length is to select a well-fitting pair of jeans or trousers that currently fits your child. Measure from the crotch seam down to the hem. This is the inseam length.
